danasgoodstuff Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 I guess now we know what becomes of the brokenhearted. Quote
JSngry Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 That's one of the greatest records ever made, only made greater by the song itself. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 Yes, i totally loved that before I had any idea who jimmy (and David) Ruffin were, or what it meant to be brokenhearted...morose fucker that I am. Quote
JSngry Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 "As I walk this land of broken dreams, I have visions of many things." I mean, jesus, right there, that's it, game over, right there. Win, forever Win. Forever. Quote

danasgoodstuff Posted November 21, 2014 Report Posted November 21, 2014 Paul Schaffer and the guys did this on Letterman last night and gave a little shout out to Jimmy and his brother. Quote
Neal Pomea Posted November 22, 2014 Report Posted November 22, 2014 It's like the press doesn't even understand this song at all, from what I am reading. Have we forgotten? Quote
JSngry Posted November 22, 2014 Report Posted November 22, 2014 I didn't know until; fairly recently that the song was originally intended for The Spinners. I mean, that would have been good, but probably just a really good cryin' song. Jimmy Ruffin put that....thing in it that made it more about the broken dreams than just the broken heart. A broken heart can heal, but a broken spirit lingers forever, no getting it back whole, hello humpty-Dumpty of the soul, and that's where Jimmy Ruffin took it. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted November 22, 2014 Report Posted November 22, 2014 Poking around the web I found an interesting story 'bout him being involved in a thing in support of the UK miners strike because his folks had been miners too. Quote
