B. Clugston Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 This story is a crock. The Mirror newspaper is not noted for getting it right. Quote
Van Basten II Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) Also to be fair I don't think Plant has got the chops to sing early Led Zep anymore. In the Band of joy tour, the few LZ covers he performed were backed up by Patty Griffin . As it was mentionned Plant has done as well creatively outside the band and doesn't need to do museum rock and should stick to his guns. Edited November 12, 2014 by Van Basten II Quote
BFrank Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Here's the latest on this HOAX. No, Robert Plant did not rip up an $800 million offer to reunite Led Zeppelin Quote
JSngry Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 IIRC, the Beatles turned down huge chunks of change when they were all still alive, too. Sometimes it just doesn't make artistic sense to revisit your past - for any amount of money. Especially if you don't "need" the money. I remember Lorne Michaels offering the Beatles $10,000 or some other small amount to perform on SNL and said they could split it anyway they want if they didn't think Ringo should get a full share. Funny corollary to that story, both McCartney & Lennon were in NYC watching that show when it was on, one called the other, and for a quick minute they entertained the notion of hightailing it over to the studio to do a surprise walk-on on to call the bluff. That would have been the end of non-shit upon pants for SO many people. Quote
