sidewinder Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Thanks for the report! Can't wait to get my copy! I think you will be quite impressed ! Quote
RayB Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 It's definitely got a few errant analog poots, that is for sure. They are minimal so I don't care too much, not to mention the fact that my hearing sucks anyway. Amen to that Clifford, you posted that on my 70th birthday so my hearing ain't that good either. As long as it's listenable that's OK with me, good to have the music. As someone else said a while ago the best sound is live sound. But that's usually in a club with people chatting, glasses clinking and often a less than brilliant PA system. I can put up with a couple of clicks! Quote
sidewinder Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) Have just played through side 1 of the Vocalion pressing and followed it up with side 1 of the UK Columbia pressing. Dynamics are somewhat better on the Columbia, with more depth and the Vocalion sounds as if there is some top level roll-off, which is not in evidence on the original. Bryan Spring's drums come through with significantly greater clarity and nuance. Having said that, the Vocalion 180g pressing is a bit quieter in terms of surface noise. So - the Columbia wins the shoot-off but the Vocalion doesn't come out of it badly at all. Edited May 3, 2015 by sidewinder Quote
romualdo Posted June 5, 2015 Report Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) finally opted for the vinyl version (we'll see how it sounds with my new tube/valve amp) - pity they don't include a digital download with the purchase Edited June 5, 2015 by romualdo Quote
