Hum Dono

Hum Dono finally to be reissued as vinyl in December. Dustygroove among others seems to be carrying it. Here is a online store in Germany that says release date is December 5th. The sleeve art is not original, though, maybe the rights owners only had rights for the music?

Amazon.co.uk lists a CD reissue by vocalion but it's currently 'unavailable.' A future release?

At last ! Great that Vocalion will be doing the CD issue, if that is the case. They did wonders with 'Movement/High Spirits'.

Here's hoping - if the original LP release was mono only, Vocalion will probably do a first time stereo release as they have with a few of their reissues, including Movement/High Spirits

Original 'Hum Dono' LP was in stereo. Not sure if there was also a mono issue (doubtful in view of the date).

Knowing Vocalion, they are sure to do a fantastic job with this reissue.

Just heard from Simon at Vocalion and he tells me this reissue is "sourced from tape"(so presumably the master tape) and will be shipping first week of December.

Now I can use the $1000 this reissue saved me to spend foolishly on something else!

Realistically, unlikely to source a good vinyl original for 1000 Cdn these days - maybe £ perhaps..

Great that they have managed to source the master tape, if that is indeed the source. Very odd though that this hasn't happened before, taking into account the historical significance of this session. The story has always been that the master tapes couldn't be found in the Universal vaults - maybe Adrian Kerridge had a copy?

Yeah but really who knows with records...they all tend to fluctuate according to who's looking at the time, etc.

Maybe this CD reissue will bring a few more vinyl copies out into the market but even so I honestly will be content with this CD assuming it will sound good.

The early Stan Tracey's?... there's plenty of them that have never seen the light of day on CD.

Ronnie Scott - Serious Gold (lies outside the years that excite most interest so tends to get missed).

I have a crackly LP from 1978 - I'd love a properly remastered version.

Also this:

I have a CD-r from LP provided by a kind board member. Again, would love a proper remastering.

Also:

There's a Tracey/Osborne Ogun too though that will hopefully resurface in the fullness of time as part of their reissue programme.
