jeffcrom Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 A thoroughly unimportant question, which occurred to me as I was filing away this recently acquired CD: What in the "Q" section of your record/CD shelves? For me, not much: Ike Quebec Snoozer Quinn Paul Quinichette Quibco U'Nite (a 2-LP free jazz jam including Daniel Carter, Perry Robinson, and Arthur Doyle, among others). So what y'all got under "Q?" JSngry Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 In addition to Ike & Quinichette: Quartette Tes Bien Quantic Luisito Quintera Quote
B. Clugston Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Just Ike Quebec and Douglas Quin (field recordings). Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 I have 2 cds by Quartet Out. Quote
JSngry Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 I have a lot more than that in my garage.... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Time for a sale and an opportunity for board members to fill out their Q section!! Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Quantz is in a different Q section in my collection. Quote
jeffcrom Posted November 3, 2014 Author Report Posted November 3, 2014 Ooh - I need some Quartet Out! They got 'em a pretty good tenor player. Find them CDs and send me a PM, Sangrey. Quote
JSngry Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 I see that Wardell Quezergue has some albums under his own name over the few years...any of them worth having? No Gene Quill, except as sideman. Quote
jeffcrom Posted November 3, 2014 Author Report Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) I see that Wardell Quezergue has some albums under his own name over the few years...any of them worth having? No Gene Quill, except as sideman. I've looked at Wardell Quezergue CDs every time I've visited New Orleans. The credits and tune selections have never been such that I felt inspired to pull the trigger on any of them. Possibly my loss. Same as you on Gene Quill. Edited November 3, 2014 by jeffcrom Quote
JSngry Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Ooh - I need some Quartet Out! They got 'em a pretty good tenor player. Find them CDs and send me a PM, Sangrey. I can't stress enough how screwed up our garage is and how disinterested I became in the playing of music for a good while. There's probably a correlation there? If you're in no hurry, I will see what I can do. If you are in a hurry, hey, money will most assuredly not be an object: http://www.amazon.com/Quartet-Welcome-Party-Pete-Gallio/dp/B0006M1YMA Quote
Larry Kart Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 One needs both of these: http://www.amazon.com/Quill-Tiger-Portrait-Great-Player/dp/B006DY9OMC/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1414985715&sr=1-1&keywords=gene+quill http://www.amazon.com/Gene-Quill-Three-Bones/dp/B0042KZK2M/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1414985715&sr=1-2&keywords=gene+quill as well as Quinichette's "For Lady" and "The Kid from Denver." The several Phil and Quill albums less so IMO, though I have a few. Quote
JSngry Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Oh shit, I forgot about Alvin Queen. Guess I need to look for that Nadi Qamar Folkways album too. Quote

David Ayers Posted November 3, 2014 Report Posted November 3, 2014 Oh if we are going outside jazz, Suzie Quattro. Well, I haven't got her first LP any more and in any case I have no filing system so my opinions are worthless. And of course Queen. Though I never owned any Queen. Quote
