I'm becoming increasingly convinced that Will Ferrell is an American comic treasure. I see him developing into a serious comic force over the years; not unlike Bill Murray, though I do not see a poignant dramatic side to Ferrell. Murray, on the other hand, can go in either direction with equal power.

To the point, though, Ferrell's glossy-eyed commitment to character is just amazing (and often downright unsettling). This is best evidenced not in feature films like Old School (or even this one) but moreso in his better SNL skits. Perhaps what I find most interesting about him is how he is equal parts very, very strange and completely on the ball.

Might I recommend the Best of Will Ferrell DVD that came out last year. I've practically memorized it by this point.....

Agreed! His GWB and his Harry Carey were outstanding!

PS- speaking of Harry, I just did a search to check the spelling and noticed that he passed on Feb. 18th, 1998, which is tomorrow. Cub Fan Bud Man!

Actually, what I saw on those Anchorman clips wasn't anything I've already come to expect from Farrell. Not that that's a bad thing, because he is still tremendously funny and it will probably be a while before he needs a new bag. I really liked him in ELF because he actually had a character he was able to work with on another level than straight-up comedy.

I hear you guys on his SNL DVD. The Bob Goulet doing hip-hop classics almost killed me. POPPAH!
