Milton Cardona, R.I.P.

Percussionist MiltonCardona, who appeared on many records of jazz musicians besides being a major figure on the New York Latin scene, died September 19, 2014, at age 69.

Among many other things, he was a core member of Kip Hanrahan's projects, who also produced his only LP as a leader with traditional Santería drums and chants on the American Clavé label.

This sad news was posted among his percussion colleagues on facebook.

Looking at his credits on Allmusic, I was surprised at how many albums I have that he appeared on, as well as the sheer number of notable albums to which he contributed. Thank you for the music, Mr. Cardona, and rest in peace.
