Report that Gerald Wilson has passed away

I'm not the biggest fan of big band music so maybe that's why I prefer Gerald Wilson's albums over many other more famous leaders. Ahem. Over the years I have learned to appreciate the giants of large groups but I still prefer smaller ensembles when it comes to jazz.

I can't put my finger on it but there was something different about Wilson's sound that drew me in and put me in my happy place. I have four or five PJ albums by Wilson but nothing newer so I'm glad to hear he was consistent. I won't hesitate next time I see a copy.
