connoisseur series500 Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Izzat free shipping? Quote
street singer Posted February 17, 2004 Author Report Posted February 17, 2004 Izzat free shipping? I don't believe CDUniverse offer free shipping, do they? Not usually, anyway... I think their shipping charges are based on the number of discs ordered, ranging from $2.99-$6.99. Quote
JSngry Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 What else has non-LP material besides Conquistador? Quote
DrJ Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Not sure...but it SURE is gonna be great to hear CONQUISTADOR with RVG sound quality! That has become for me one of the undersung gems of the label, and hopefully this reissue will help to rectify that some. It's not going to be immediately to everyone's taste, but damn it, this is music too good to ignore even for those coming from a firmly hard bop orientation - just LISTEN, and you WILL hear! Quote
king ubu Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Jim, I think the Stan T. has one or two tracks not on LP (I got an old CD of that one). Checked AMG, one it seems: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&u...l=A5pg9kebtjq7m ubu Quote
JSngry Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Sorry, but that AMG listing shows the same cuts as the LP. Don't know what "They Can't Take That Away from Me [#]" means, but it's on the LP. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Hmmm. . . there was a TOCJ cd without that track, and a JRVG WITH that track as a bonus. . . . Sure it was on the lp? Quote
JSngry Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Someday I will learn to read... "You'll Never Get Away From Me" is NOT the same as "They Can't Take That Away From Me", is it... So, where's the title tune on these CDs? The LP still has 7 cuts. Quote
couw Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 does that say "You'll never get away from me" or do I need to see an opticien (or maybe Jim needs a better webcam) Quote
jazzbo Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 From a site: Never Let Me Go brand-new CD (Blue Note TOCJ-9510) JAPAN.....$25 recorded on January 18 & February 13, 1963 limited LP style paper sleeve edition 24bit digiral remastering +1 bonus track 1. jazzbo Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Once again, All Music on the web is for schitte. Quote
JSngry Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Indeed. Did "They Can't Take That Away From Me" ever pop up anywhere else? I looked at all the LT albums and don't see it. Whatever that proves, which at this point is next to nothing... Quote
jazzbo Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 I'm not sure---I think it may have shown up first on the early US cd. . . . Quote
king ubu Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Sorry for my help in spreading the AMG schitte! I was at work and remembered my old US CD had a bonus cut, and when I saw that # on AMG I thought that was it. My CD has 1992 US CD has 8 tracks, "They Can't Take That Away From Me" was then previously unissued. Again sorry for the confusion, memory was right, but AMG not ubu Quote
JSngry Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 (edited) Hey, it's cool, and thanks for the heads up. I cancelled my first order and promptly created another one with NEVER LET ME GO added. Piece of the proverbial cake! Edited February 17, 2004 by JSngry Quote
king ubu Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Hey, it's cool, and thanks for the heads up. I cancelled my first order and promptly created another one with NEVER LET ME GO added. Piece of the proverbial cake! Might be good to have this one in RVG treatment anyway! Glad I did not stand between you and your luck... ubu Quote
mgraham333 Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Does anybody have updated information on the 3/23 RVG batch? Here is what my order at CDUniverse shows: Byrd, Donald At The Half Note Cafe Pre-Order Now! Available: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 (CDU and True Blue still show this as having been released on 3/9) Rollins, Sonny Newk's Time Pre-Order Now! Available: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 Silver, Horace The Cape Verdean Blues Pre-Order Now! Available: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 Smith, Jimmy Prayer Meetin' Pre-Order Now! Available: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 Smith, Jimmy Rockin' The Boat Pre-Order Now! Available: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 Taylor, Cecil Conquistador Pre-Order Now! Available: Friday, March 26, 2004 Turrentine, Stanley Never Let Me Go Pre-Order Now! Available: Friday, March 26, 2004 Quote
mgraham333 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 OK then. I'll answer my own question. I called CDUniverse customer support. CDUniverse is using five different distributors for: Taylor, Cecil Conquistador Turrentine, Stanley Never Let Me Go and presumably the other RVGs in this batch as well. One of those distributors shows availability as March 26th while the others show March 23rd. So even though the availability status shows March 26th, it's likely those two titles will be available with the others. I'm guessing for purposes of order status display, CDUniverse uses the conservative estimate. Under promise and over deliver? Quote
JSngry Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 My Silver shipped today. Cecil & T scheduled for the 26th. Go figure. Quote
riverrat Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 Got an email that my Donald Byrd Half Note, originally ordered in early March with Free Form has shipped. The sound on Free Form is excellent, hope they did as nice of a job with Half Note. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 I ordered Prayer Meetin', Rockin the Boat and Free Form on monday morning and they shipped out yesterday afternoon. I've never heard "Rockin the Boat" (except for Can Heat on a compilation) or "Free Form", how are are they? Is "Rockin the Boat" a good date, or a typical late BN Jimmy outing? of those last 4 albums for BN, I think Prayer Meetin' is the special one, I didn't like Bucket when it was released on CD, that was just a tad boring to me.
