Dr. Rat
Tell me, did you have anything of substance after the first full stop Moose? The exclamation point or the period? --eric you mean there was something AFTER the quote of conn500? You got some nose on you. --eric
patricia
As for my crying rape in a heartbeat, that's beneath even you. I assume that you are referring to my asking for clarification of your gleefully told story about your friend's now ex-wife, first described as "surprise" date rape, later amended to describe consentual group sex. I know the difference, as does everyone else who posts here, I assume. I stand by my comments and, quite frankly, was surprised I was the only one who didn't think it was amusing, or erotic, but simply mean, in it's original form. You weren't the only one Patricia. And I thought very highly of you for raising the issue. My own personal inclination was to not grant DEEP the attention he seemed to be seeking, both because it seemed like he would twist any attention into gratification, and because it seemed he would end up being nasty to anybody eventually. Hence, his use of the "c" word (which I first saw today, because I've been offline most of the week) -- but he probably thinks it's a compliment. As for the very beginning of his appearance here -- I communicated directly with Christiern about that, again because anything posted on the Board just seemed like it would quickly become grist for the DEEP-mill. But the way DEEP was talking to Chris struck me as highly offensive, and not "just kidding." And finally, one point I did address on that 90-page thing was this identity question: It never occurred to me that our thread-originator and THE GROPER could be the same person. What would be the point??Surely nobody else on this board is so unsure of their views that they are posting as different people and, in a sense, talking to themselves. Now, THAT'S stupid, not to mention one of the first signs of insanity!! Say it isn't so!!!! Maybe WINGY(I STAY BOMBED) would like to weigh in on this subject... To which DEEP immediately replied: Wingy got too bombed one night. He's history. DEEP Thanks Maren. I thought that I was alone and that scared me. The impression I got was that I was some sort of party-pooper and that what everyone, but me, could see by the content of the questioned posts was different than they appeared to me. I went back and re-read them and came away with the same impression. The assumption, on no evidence, seemed to be that the "surprise" was consentual. That's not what the original story said and I couldn't understand why everyone but me saw what wasn't there. Anyway............................ ghost of miles
Good job, B-3er and sorry you and Use had to take so much abuse. No one deserves that. Yeah, but I'm glad they gave the guy a chance, which as you and I both know is more than I would have done. Sometimes being fair is a pain in the ass, but it's still the right thing to do. Thumbs up once again to Jim. liberal You know you want to be one! There is still good in you, Berigan... I can feel it.

chris olivarez
Patricia I don't mean to come off as critical or judgemental I'm just curious as to why you interacted with deep at the level that you did. I realize that it's your buisness but I just wondered what the attraction was. At any rate that gave him no right to address you in the manner that he did. The things that were said to you by that individual were too put it mildly way out of line.

The things that were said to you by that individual were too put it mildly way out of line. As has been mentioned, there are few who post here who know as much about jazz, first hand as Dan does. Over the last few years I have been generously mentored by this very person who has now been banned. Much of what I know about the artform is directly due to his influence and the recommendations he has made and the encouragement he has extended to me. There are other reasons, which I won't go into, that I consider Dan my friend. He held my hand through a very difficult couple of years, just because I reached out to him. Things were black and now they're not perfect, but not so much black. I think that Christiern was also puzzled by the stranger we have encountered here in recent months. I too, thought we were friends. I kept hoping that some of Dan's unique, ascerbic wit would surface, but it never did. His musical talent is undeniable. His intelligence and kindness seem to have been replaced by something else. I really don't know what to make of it. I hope whatever it is, is temperary. Jim Alfredson
I was really hoping Danny would make a positive contribution here. I don't know why he chose instead to insult me, my brother, and several members here. It's a shame, but I just got tired of it. I hope if I ever meet him in person he's cool... brownie
Just my two cents. I think the Board administrators behaved like Gentlemen throughout this mess. Wish a number of posters had maintained their cool during this sad episode. And Patricia, stick around. You have fans around here!
neveronfriday
I didn't like him from the start (and I had been following his rants on other boards), but I did not stay away. I don't really know why, but there was a brief glimpse of his knowledge when we talked about Thad Jones etc. and having met Jones in Denmark, it sure sounded like DEEP was right on and knew what he was talking about. I was also hoping that he would come around and start posting valuable stuff here, but he hardly ever did. Yes, some members (mea culpa) did taunt him because of the way he was behaving, but I could tell that Patricia and some others were all hoping he might drop the act. I think B3er handled this really well, ignoring some people like me who cried wolf on day one when he arrived (and even PMed him about it), but in retrospect his sorry a** could have been kicked a whole lot earlier. But, we always know better after things have happened, so, kudos to the management team. Contrary to what I believed on day one when DEEP arrived, B3er was right to give him the benefit of the doubt, no matter what transpired afterwards. To find the silver lining here, one could say I did learn something after all. Cheers!

Peter Johnson
Concur, and, I might add, I hope you saved your "nickname" posts, Patricia! I learned a lot from them. Would you consider starting a separate "nickname" thread so that knowledge isn't lost?
patricia
Concur, and, I might add, I hope you saved your "nickname" posts, Patricia! I learned a lot from them. Would you consider starting a separate "nickname" thread so that knowledge isn't lost? Sadly, in an uncharacteristic snit I jettisined them. I was miffed when not a small amount of effort on my part was dismissed out of hand, and not just by the thread originator. It was originally a futile attempt to gentle the thread and pass on what I thought was interesting info in a random manner. I know that to some it was like the little old man, last week, who came into the patent office with his revolutionary invention for talking over long distances. He thought he might call it "the telephone". But, because I haven't spent my whole life, as many here have, listening to and loving jazz, this was a way of talking about obscure and not so obscure artists whom we don't discuss, or even hear, that often. I know that it was old hat to most, who already knew about them. But, I can create another if there is any interest. Thank you for the kind words. Peter Johnson
Can't blame you for the snit. Wish I'd spoken up much sooner. If it's any consolation, I was planning on copying the writeups for my own future use and reference. Sadly, this falls into the category of "woulda, coulda, shoulda." Patricia, I would never presume to speak for you or pull your words from the ether if you prefer they remain there, but I wonder if Jim's server/network stores "snapshots" of the BB from certain points in time--specifically, before you deleted the writeups--so as to get a text dump of them? It's probably a long shot, but you never know until you ask...

It was fun to put together the first time and will be slightly different if I do it again. The bios were not cut and pasted, but composed fresh, from reference material and put into my own words. Yeah. I talk like that, for better or worse. Thank you so much for your positive feedback. I'm not given to mood-swings, usually, but I was under a little stress then, I suppose. Christiern
Deep's thread on BNBBE seems to have been deleted already. Is he repatrating or was he expelled by the natives? I think he was expelled--I also think that process was expedited by his creating membership using various Organissimo poster's names and e-mail addresses. He always accused me of somehow "turning him in," or at least being instrumental in his banishment. He was wrong, but this time he would be right--I have finally had enough of that nonsense, so I contacted the administrator (who seemed unaware of the Organissimo deportation). BTW, I was apparently not the only one to complain.

Harold_Z
I posted this on the thread about the Euro BNBB, but it's relevant here as well. With all due respect to all the previous goings on, I truly suspect the reason for that thread being dumped AT THIS POINT had more to do with the promotion of non Blue Note products on it than anything else.
