Chuck Nessa Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 (edited) I get an error message. A search turned up this: http://www.popmarket.com/details/29081665?feature_id=30183705 Nice music but not my cup. Edited July 25, 2014 by Chuck Nessa Quote
romualdo Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 I was hoping it was the Monk stuff. Just received the email from Pop Market It's Black Lion material remastered by Bernie Grundman They've chosen 3 artists - Dexter Gordon, Miles Davis & Johnny Griffin - each has a 3LP set (one 33rpm & 2x45 rpm LPs) - technically not MD but actually Ann Hathaway & Earl Coleman sessions It looks like the 2 45rpm LPs contain the same material as the 33 rpm LP - appears to aimed at audiophiles OTT IMHO!!! BeBop Posted July 25, 2014 Author Report Posted July 25, 2014 Thanks for link fix, Mr. Nessa. I'd tried posting from my phone. Quote
mikeweil Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 Strange choices - who needs these Miles sidemen dates in that form - their sound is far below the potential of a 45 rpm LP. Quote
spinlps Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 These were done in 33rpm a few years back. I picked up the Griffin on clearance at a local shop. Meh. Good, but certainly not worthy of this sort of package. Wish someone would mine the Steeplechase & Black Saint catalogs instead. Alto Analogue issued a few Steeplechase titles but barely a blip on the radar. Quote
