Kids... I wonder how old these kids are.

I hit the upgrade button on Spotify, to find out how much the premium service is. Amazingly, I found it's 99KR a month. I assume that's Norwegian Krone and is £9.28 (GBP). That's a hell of a slice out of a kid's pocket money (it's a quarter of my own pocket money :D)

Somehow, I doubt it's kids who are taking these decisions. It's people with jobs - maybe a few well heeled students. But they'll mostly be twenty-somethings. The days when teenagers controlled sales are almost certainly gone.

My twenty-something daughter pays £9.99 a month for Spotify, as I do. I doubt if we've ever listened to the same track, though!

It's $10 a month here. I can't imagine many teenagers not being able to afford that.

Sounds like the music industry is up to its old discriminatory tricks. Downloads used to be 99 cents a track in the States and 99p here, i.e. about 50% more expensive.

Well, under socialism the state would fix the price.

Not saying that is good, bad or indifferent (suspect it would be highly inflexible).

Just that in a capitalist state you get variations in price as you get variations of remuneration for the same labour. So it's hardly surprising that things cost different amounts in different places.

Downloads here are still $.99 to $1.29.

Not sure how that works out with the current exchange rate. Probably comparable?

Who cares as to the vagaries and trends found in the uneducated ears of the herd?

Who cares about the opinions of the elitist as they proclaim their superiority over everyone else.
