JSngry Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 Brenda picked up on this over the weekend and binge-watched it through. What I saw of it has me thinking I will follow suit. Looks to be a well-told/acted tale and fully subtitled. Plus the main character always has good hair, and everybody drives nice cars. I'm envious. Anyway, do any of our Euro-viewers have experience with this show, and if so, what are your opinions? Not knowing Belgium all that well, does it resonate as turhful(ish)? And are the actors as good as they seem to be to somebody who's relying entirely on subtitles? Quote
JohnS Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 This was shown on UK tv a few months ago. Interesting plot which kept me watching. Can't say I liked any of the characters paticularly, Nice Belgium location filming though. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 I enjoyed it. A tall tale in the 'secret cabal at the heart of government' genre with few too many twists to be believable. But very good entertainment. Authentic? No. Never once saw anyone eating chips with mayonnaise. Quote
page Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 I've watched the first episode for you and payed close attention to the translation. It is pretty accurate. I would translate a few sentences slightly different but there were no big issues. I really like the Flemish and watch Belgian series regularly, they have a lovely way of expressing things. So far I've recognized just a few actors, one of them the main character who I have seen in more series and quite liked. The series probably have been broadcasted in The Netherlands as well, but I have missed it at that time apparently. There are a lot of collaborations in tv between Flenders and Holland, in which they share costs and actors The scene is in Brussels. The French on this episode seemed correct too, as far as I could tell. My Dutch is much better than my French. The screenwriter won a lot of prizes in the past and both him and the director have produced more succesful series. I plan to watch the next episode myself. Hope you'll enjoy the series. Kind regards, page Quote
