Hardbopjazz Posted November 14, 2015 Report Posted November 14, 2015 I saw Buster last night, 11/13 playing with the Cyrus Chestnut Trio. He is an amazing bass player. Next week he is playing a duo with Renee Rosnes. I hope to catch one of those nights. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 Saturday 11/21, the two sets with Renee Rosnes was being filmed and recorded for a Buster Williams documentary film that is scheduled for release in 2017. Quote

Hey, that's some fantastic news about the BW documentary! Will have to keep my eyes peeled for that. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 Yes, it will be shown at jazz festivals throughout the world according to the director. Quote
HutchFan Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 Buster is playing at Blues Alley in Washington, DC in January (01-21 to 01-24). Steve Wilson will be with his band. More details here. I'm toying with the idea of driving up to DC to catch a couple shows. My wife and I could make a long weekend of it. Hit a couple museums during the day. It'd be fun. It's a LONG drive though. About ten hours from ATL to DC. ...We'll see. Quote

Hardbopjazz Posted December 25, 2015 Report Posted December 25, 2015 Thanks for sharing this. I am looking forward to watching this when the film is released in 2017. Quote
Olie Brice Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 I'm a massive Buster Williams fan - one classic not mentioned here is Shirley Horn's 'Lazy Afternoon', a gorgeous trio album. Anything with Buster and Billy Hart together is essential listening in my book... Quote
