BeBop Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 (edited) Many sets included. "Does not include our new Louis Armstrong, Roland Kirk or Clifford Jordan releases or items that are noted as backordered on the website." Edited June 4, 2015 by BeBop Quote
Joe Bip Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Am I missing something? How do I get the discount to show up? Quote
BeBop Posted May 28, 2014 Author Report Posted May 28, 2014 (edited) It looks like it's only on the boxes. Just go to any box listing and, if it's on sale, you'll see something like: The Complete Arista Recordings of Anthony Braxton (#242) Mosaic Records Limited Edition Box Set {C}{C} "The statement in the music, beyond the music, is that the Arista years and its fruits on record amply embodied a satisfying American flowering of Braxton’s work, in the “jazz” plot of its garden...but in doing so, and moving through flower to airborne pollen, it also showed that moment to be as evanescently improvised, as idiosyncratically composed, as the music itself. Joe Bip Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Ah, thanks. I was trying to order a couple of Selects in addition to a big box or two and didn't see the red text for the latter. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 The Woody Shaw box beckons ! No regrets having pre-ordered mine, but if I hadn't - I'd sure be jumping on one now!! Quote
romualdo Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 I've ordered the Monk "It Club" LP set - had my eye on this for a while now Quote
sidewinder Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 I've ordered the Monk "It Club" LP set - had my eye on this for a while now Good move - the mastering on that one is pretty spectacular. Quote
Clunky Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 I might finally get off the fence regarding the Jazz Crusaders set or possibly the Threadgill.Choices, choices etc. Quote
mjzee Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 I might finally get off the fence regarding the Jazz Crusaders set or possibly the Threadgill.Choices, choices etc. I'm now up to disc 3 of the Jazz Crusaders set. It keeps getting better and better. Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 I want the Clifford Jordan set but of course it's not on sale Quote
mikeweil Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 (edited) Hmmm ... a nice opportunity to get the endangered Herman box .... or the Jamal? Whenever I try to spend less on CDs, they come up with Last Chance notices or promotional campaigns ... Edited May 29, 2014 by mikeweil Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 (edited) I want the Clifford Jordan set but of course it's not on sale Me too. I'd probably have bought one this go around if it were included. Eventually I'll take the plunge, sale or not, I'm sure - but it could be a year or more. BTW, I'm not complaining that it wasn't included. I readily bought the Woody Shaw Muse box, full price. Just a matter of priorities, and cash availability. Edited May 29, 2014 by Rooster_Ties Quote
xybert Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 I know people don't rave about it but i've always wanted to get the Joe Pass set... I usually only get Mosaics that i can't live without as i pay the courier fee because, having paid for an expensive set, it's worth paying the additional expense to make sure they arrive safe and sound. I wan't the Pass but not enough to pay the courier fee on top, maybe with the 10% off, i'll just pay standard shipping and just hope for the best. Quote
Larry Kart Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Just ordered the Earl Hines. Got a lot of it on old LPs but am hoping for completeness, a sonic upgrade, and good liner notes. How does anyone who has the Hawkins set feel about it? I'm in a similar situation there as with the Hines -- already have a lot of what's on it -- but the Hawkins set doesn't claim to be complete for its period (that would be close to impossible), just adept in in its selections. Do you find that to be so? Quote
JSngry Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 I love that Hawk set. I was significantly less familiar with the earlier stuff than the later, but it pulled me in from note one and didn't let go until the end. The story just kept unfolding, every selection being an expansion of the one before it (or so it felt listening to it in as much all-at-once fashion as each day would allow). It's programmed quite,as you say, adeptly. Quote
mjzee Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 The Hawkins is a notable sonic upgrade from other copies of the same material that I've heard. Quote
BeBop Posted June 2, 2014 Author Report Posted June 2, 2014 Drat. Ellington Small Groups now on backorder until "second half of 2014". Quote
sidewinder Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Drat. Ellington Small Groups now on backorder until "second half of 2014". I guess stocks will already have been depleted as a result of that 10%-off offer on that set about a month ago. Quote
mr jazz Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 Is the sound on the Shaw set improved over the 32 jazz releases as one review claims? Quote
mr jazz Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Is the sound on the Shaw set improved over the 32 jazz releases as one review claims? anyone? I already have a fair amount of what's in the box but if the SQ is improved will take the plunge Quote
mjzee Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 I'm leaning towards the Joe Pass and the Earl Hines; still thinkin'. Quote
JSngry Posted June 7, 2014 Report Posted June 7, 2014 A pimp for the Eldridge, again. Visceral music, viscerally so. Quote
