Claude Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 (edited) Art Pepper - Smack Up ~ CCD-7602-2 ~ $14.98 Thelonious Monk - Plays Duke Ellington ~ RCD-201-2 ~ $14.98 Bill Evans - New Jazz Conceptions ~ RCD-223-2 ~ $14.98 Cannonball Adderley/Milt Jackson - Things Are Getting Better ~ RCD-1128-2 ~ $14.98 Chet Baker - Plays the Best of Lerner & Loewe ~ RCD-1152-2 ~ $14.98 http://www.fantasyjazz.com/html/20-bits_newest.html It seems that Fantasy is continuing to offer two lines of audiophile reissues, K2 CDs and hybrid SACDs. Not the same titles, but most of the current SACD batch were previously reissued on K2 also, before SACDs existed. Edited February 14, 2004 by Claude Quote
LAL Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Wonder when will they reissue those hard to find Clifford Brown Quartet and Sextet discs!! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Wonder when will they reissue those hard to find Clifford Brown Quartet and Sextet discs!! Fantasy does not own the Brown titles, they were licensed. Look for Vogue or BMG reissues for this material. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 The Monk is going to be very welcome, I love this session and would like to have it in a K2 remastering! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Not sure how much better the Monk can sound since the original masters and the subsequent lp masters are long gone. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 (edited) It will probably sound better than the copy I have! Also, I'm one of those persons who think that a quality done transfer can make a big improvement, and K2s are quality transfers indeed. I've also heard that the Japanese cd (K2) is an improvement. The price is better on the domestic coming up. . . . Edited February 17, 2004 by jazzbo Quote
