John Tapscott Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 It's listed at about the 40 second mark - Dizzy, Sahib Shihab, Wade Legge, Nelson Boyd, Charlie Persip. Quote

umum_cypher Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 All kinds of WTF. I love Charli Persip's shirt. The popcorn rap is pretty good too. Quote
duaneiac Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 Was that an actual E-Z Pop Popcorn commercial? Do they still make E-Z Pop Popcorn these days? I wonder where they would have shown a film like this back in the day? Was the sponsor's name "Mr. Hemp"? thanks for sharing this. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted May 25, 2014 Report Posted May 25, 2014 Always something to learn on the insternet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hubley More Hubley/Gillespie. Who knew? Yes, the Hubleys are the parents of Georgia Hubley, drummer/vocalist for Yo La Tengo (YLT are big jazz fans too). Quote
mjzee Posted May 25, 2014 Report Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) 1) R.O. Blechman! 2) What was the first tune they played? It sounds so familiar... 3) Hubley and Dizzy worked together on "Voyage To Next." The film was released on VHS, but not sure it's made it to DVD: and the music is available on CD; I believe this disc is comprised of soundtracks to the Hubleys' films: Edited May 25, 2014 by mjzee Quote
JSngry Posted May 25, 2014 Report Posted May 25, 2014 2) What was the first tune they played? It sounds so familiar... "Tour De Force", a contrafact of "Jeepers Creepers"."Somebody's gonna get hung" HA! Quote
