soulpope Posted June 2, 2014 Report Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) I believe this was based on a well-regarded French Surrealist book's cover design (ca. 1940s), which I recently saw in a personal library. Looking back now it seems like the Lacy jacket just straightened out the letters' placement. There is definitely something of a Surrealist element in a lot of those early Hat Hut cover designs, which was lost when they went to ECM-style photographs for their CD art. another examples : Edited June 2, 2014 by soulpope Quote
