AllenLowe Posted May 13, 2014 Report Share Posted May 13, 2014 this summer Matt and I are going to start work on a solo piano project in which he plays my compositions; as with Field Recordings we are going to depend upon pre-sale of the CD; this will be a simple (at least for me) one-CD release, probably under $10 shipped on advance sale. And we will probably throw in a few duets if I can get my chops together (as I will be out of commission due to surgery, for most of June and July). MomsMobley Posted May 14, 2014 Report Share Posted May 14, 2014 excellent news, Shipp is great, even the electronic collaboration stuff is mostly better than its given credit for; maybe hardcore 'jazzbos' don't like what I hear as occasional Messiaen influence in Matthew's playing? less so now than than earlier but... also, weirdly, I saw that Shipp's excellent first solo piano CD, "Symbolic Gestures," is back in print on No More Records-- who expected that? a few other No More titles, including the Frank Lowes have also returned.
