GA Russell Posted May 3, 2014 Report Posted May 3, 2014 Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., has passed away at age 95. In all of television, my favorite character was Dandy Jim Buckley. RIP. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2014/05/03/efrem-zimbalist-jr-star-fbi-dead-at-5/?intcmp=latestnews Quote

fasstrack Posted May 3, 2014 Report Posted May 3, 2014 I used to love 77 Sunset Strip. RIP Efrem Zimbalist Jr MG That's two of us. Quote
Leeway Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 ZImbalist's FBI show was a pure propaganda outlet for the FBI. Zimbalist and Hoover were great pals. Hoover used to hold Zimbalist out to FBI agents as a model. Hoover allowed Zimbalist to use material from FBI files, suitably doctored and manipulated of course. While the show was airing, the FBI was waging war on civil rights and anti-war movement participants, including Martin Luther King Jr., using surveillance, wiretaps, break-ins and other dirty tricks. Shows like this allowed Hoover to continue to unprecedented abuse of power. Just thought it was worth mentioning. Quote
Larry Kart Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 IIRC, Martin Williams wrote a piece praising Zimbalist Jr.'s acting on the FBI show. Also, FWIW, I can recall several brilliant episodes of "Hawaii Five-O," in particular one where Andy Griffith plays the head of a down-home (a la the Mayberry area) family that uses Griffith's nubile daughter to entrap and then murder vacationing in Hawaii businessmen. When the family is caught, and Jack Lord asks Griffith way he's acting so blasé after committing all these murders, Griffith replies, "They wasn't kin, were they?" Quote
JSngry Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 Yeah, show me anything presented by people to other people that's not propaganda of some sort. I've made my peace with that. Besides, watching tv is too much fun to get bogged down by things like, oh, hey, they're trying to get me on their side, I'll take F-rin Zimbalist Jr-Hoover for the block over Martin Luther King, as if circle DOESN't get The Square eventually. If they win, good for them. And if they don't, who wins then? Me, the disinterested viewer, that's who. I am enterdamtained, hello freedom's just another world with nothing left to view! It still can't affect your nerves. Still! and CAN'T. Besides, it was a show-bizzness dynasty, Sr. Jr. & Stephanie. With a name like Zimbalist, it's a miracle that there was even one, but no - three. Three generations of Zimbalists, withor without Jedgar Heever. Proof positive that what's in a last name? No - it's what's up FRONT that counts, lead with your talent and the world WILL trap a bigger mouse. Hell yeah they will. Color me cathode-rayicized, in living Colour, full frontal glued-ity. To the set, that is...sleeping pills, movie stars. Jed! Move away from there! You're blocking my damned view! You make a better door than you do Widower! Quote
Leeway Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 Thanks Jim for that Panglossian psychedelic spiel. Are you really saying that EZJ is a superior person to Martin Luther King Jr? Wow, your relativism seems to have reached new levels. Quote

Hollywood SQUARES, baby. Joover Ehdgear and them. Eventually gooten by the Circles, no matter how much going for the block they try for. Can't tell the players if you don't have a scorecard. Commentating, not play-cat-ing. Turtle Wax, anybody? Quote

Neal Pomea Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Good actor. RIP. I remember as a kid wondering who in the world would confuse him with Efrem Zimbalist Sr.! Quote

Oh, it's simple - circle inevitably gets the square because Circle gets The Square. Over the long haul, the inverse is never the case, so there ya' go. Simple as that. Any further elaboration would be redundant! Quote
paul secor Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) OK. Guess I need a special decoder ring to unravel certain posts. Edited May 9, 2014 by paul secor Quote
JSngry Posted May 10, 2014 Report Posted May 10, 2014 Worth noting that you don't get the block - you have to earn that yourself. Here again, Circle gets The Square, so advantage Circle, intrinsically. Speaking of Unraveling... Quote
