BeBop Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Quite a poll, Soulstation. Ever thought of going to work in politics? (I won't mention any specific party names.) Or in marketing (Four of five dentists surveyed...) Quote
Soulstation1 Posted April 14, 2003 Author Report Posted April 14, 2003 hey i've never been to florida and i voted for ***e. my girlfriend serena lives there. pleaze don't turn my scientific poll into a poltical thread.... Quote
Dan Gould Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Weizen can confirm this, but I am pretty sure this is what is called a "push poll". (Sorry Jeff, I kept this in the political realm) Quote
Soulstation1 Posted April 14, 2003 Author Report Posted April 14, 2003 vote for me http://www.house.gov/jeffmiller/ i am alittle darker in real life, but not much Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Cool link, Jeff, Nice to know you! Quote
BFrank Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 (edited) I voted for the first one. I think the digital remix is much cleaner. It doesn't have that phasing sound of the other selection and the bass is more prominent. I won't even mention the squeeking drum kit! Edited April 14, 2003 by BFrank Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 It's a pretty tough call at the moment... Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Soooo, Congressman Miller has joined the board has he? Welcome. Hey, how about we catch a drink in the grill room over at the Capitol Hill Club on Wed. How long do you figure it'll take you to walk there from your office in the Cannon Bldg.? Hmmmmm???? I'll bring along a copy of Lee Morgan's 'best' cd -- Candy. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Sorry, but there are at least 8 I would play before this. It is a very good record though. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted April 15, 2003 Author Report Posted April 15, 2003 mr nessa, what are the 8? is cornbread one of them? mr. weizy, don't make me call the irs and order a tax audit on your butt! i'll do it! congressman ss1 Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Cornbread might be number 1. AND I'm Chuck. Quote
Brad Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I'd have to put some of his 50s work, the Rajah, Charisma and Infinity before that. Just my vote. BTW, if the present gig doesn't work out, perhaps being a polltaker for some less than democratic regimes might have possibilities . Quote
BFrank Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 BTW, if the present gig doesn't work out, perhaps being a polltaker for some less than democratic regimes might have possibilities . Brad - Are you referring to Florida? "The Gigolo" was my first exposure to Lee, so I have a sentimental attachment to this album. It's hard for me to put any others up top. If I did, though, I might have to move "Search For The New Land" to #1. Quote
JohnS Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Search For The New Land does it for me too, but then what about all the others, especially in the 1500 series, that's where the action really is. Quote
catesta Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 I love the hell out of the The Gigolo. Quote
catesta Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 vote for me http://www.house.gov/jeffmiller/ i am alittle darker in real life, but not much Quote
sidewinder Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Hmmm...this looks suspiciously similar to the voting form Sadaam used at his last 'election' 'Gigolo' is a real fave along with that hardy perennial 'the sidewinder' but I have to admit to being particularly fond of 'Sixth Sense' and 'Caramba'. Those two really groove... Quote
Morganized Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Lee was incredible. What a loss. My favorites are The Cooker, for his early work, but I really enjoy his latter work, Sixth Sense, Last Session. In fact, it is so hard to pick out just a few. I find Lee's directions toward the end of his career to be utterly fascinating. His music incorporated the "New Thing" but still swung like h**l. If he had lived I think his direction may have been where many of the players would have ended up. When I first started purchasing jazz records I was told that I couldn't get a bad Lee Morgan. I think that has proved to be the case. Some are clearly better than others but I have not found one that I did not enjoy, usually on many different levels. And oh yea....The Gigolo is not too bad either! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted April 18, 2003 Author Report Posted April 18, 2003 i'm gonna let my scientific poll go another week and then announce the "winner". charisma is a very good cd. anyone know which was lee morgan's fav? i do not like the sidewinder, maybe it's cuz there are always many copies @ ebay... it's kinda like my andrew hill phobia there should be a ebay law, no more sidewinder cds and bob marley mosaic posters. PLEAZE the world has enough of that shiznet already. ss1 Quote
