mjazzg Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 Luminosity-The Last Suites a double CD, seems to be available at a very reasonable price here http://www.grahamcolliermusic.com/ http://www.grahamcolliermusic.com/TheStore/TheStore.html Quote
sidewinder Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 Thanks for that. Must get hold of a copy of this one. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) Collier's later recordings don't get much attention but I've found them to be very strong. Especially liked this one: Like the line-up of musicians on these two new discs. As it says on the web blurb, friends old and new: James Allsopp, Roy Babbington, Mark Bassey, Graeme Blevins, Roger Dean, Andy Grappy, John Marshall, Andy Panayi, Ed Speight, Martin Shaw, Art Themen, Trevor Tomkins, Steve Waterman and Jonathan Williams. sidewinder Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 There's also that DVD of the Derby performance that was given out with 'JazzWise' some years ago. Must dig that out. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted March 21, 2014 Report Posted March 21, 2014 There seem to be two threads on this accidentally started. Any chance of a join? Quote
mjazzg Posted March 21, 2014 Author Report Posted March 21, 2014 Oops...appears that we've got two threads on this release. I think I'm the guilty party for starting this one without checking Mod (not Weller) can you merge please? Quote
Head Man Posted March 22, 2014 Report Posted March 22, 2014 I put my thread under "re-issues" by mistake. Obviously it's a new release. Quote
mjazzg Posted March 31, 2014 Author Report Posted March 31, 2014 This is very good indeed. All Collier fans, and others, will appreciate its release I think Quote

Head Man Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 I've been playing this on and off now for several weeks and I must admit I'm hugely disappointed with it. To me it sounds formless, more like a rehearsal tape than a finished suite. I know it was recorded posthumously and I wonder whether that might have something to do with it. Perhaps it needed Graham to be there in order to realise what was intended. Anyway I have lots of other treasured recordings by him, so all is not lost! Quote
