This looks interesting.  Has anyone heard it?

NEIL SWAINSON QUINTET: 49th Parallel - $7.95

https://www.hamiltonbook.com/neil-swainson-quintet-49th-parallel-compact-disc

With Joe Henderson and Woody Shaw.

A Reel to Real release.

It's good; very enjoyable.  Discussed here: https://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?/topic/84730-neil-swainson-49th-parallel/

Not CDs -- but for those who are amenable to downloading music -- Qobuz is offering CD-quality and High-Res downloads of their entire MPS catalog at 30% off thru 03/18/22.

Most albums are $4.54 for CD-quality and $5.94 for High-Res.

I prefer LPs and CDs, but at those prices I expect I'll be plopping for a few.  Especially since many items in the MPS catalog are expensive as LPs or CDs.

As an aside, I'd recommend all of these MPS albums without hesitation:

  • Albert Mangelsdorff Quartet – Never Let It End (1970)
  • Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis & Johnny Griffin – Tough Tenors Again 'n' Again (1970)
  • Eddie [Eddy] Louiss – Our Kind of Sabi (1970)
  • Anita O'Day – Anita O'Day in Berlin: Recorded Live at the Berlin Jazz Festival (1971)
  • Attila Zoller & Masahiko Sato – A Path Through Haze (1972)
  • Joachim Kühn – This Way Out (1973)
  • Jimmy Raney – Momentum (1975)
  • Hannibal & the Sunrise Orchestra – Hannibal (1975)
  • John Handy & Ali Akbar Khan – Karuna Supreme (1976)
  • Martial Solal & Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen – Movability (1976)
  • Albert Mangelsdorff, Jaco Pastorius, Alphonse Mouzon – Trilogue: Live! (1977)
  • Martial Solal – Suite for Trio (1978)
  • Stephane Grappelli – Young Django (1979)

These are all listed as favorites on my 1970s jazzblog. ;)

I have no commercial connection with Qobuz, by the way.

Looks like Dusty Groove got in a bunch of Delmark CDs priced at $3.99 or less.  Chris Woods, Chicago Underground Trio, Exploding Star Orchestra, George Lewis, Roscoe Mitchell, Zoot Sims, Keefe Jackson, Kalaparush, Eric Alexander, Rob Mazurek, Flip Phillips, Junior Mance, and more - do a search for Delmark.

Is this a new batch of inventory or the same inventory they've been having?

There's definitely some bargains to be had. Carpe diem!!!
