Soul Stream Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 anyone pick up this cd? Yes. Not as successful as the Lonnie Smith tribute to Beck. I thought that was really, really genius. The R. Wilson disc just doesn't hold up as much. Big fan of Reuben, just not of what's going on here. But, then again, if you can pick it up real, real, real cheap then do. Quote
wolff Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 Art Blakey's Jazz Mesengers With Thelonious Monk(Atlantic). Just picked up the 4 Men With Beards vinyl reissue of this and I'll be damnded if it ain't a greeezzzzy one. Maybe not your standard greeze(something a bit more subtle, but just as deep), but greeze nonetheless. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 Anyone hear Deep Blue Organ Trio? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 I haven't picked up their record yet, but I've heard some cuts on the local jazz radio station. They sound good! The organist, Chris Foreman, is fantastic. He is coming to Michigan with Henry Johnson's Organ Express, as can be seen here: http://www.lakeshorejazzconnection.org/ Quote
