Big Al Posted November 11, 2004 Author Report Posted November 11, 2004 That's what I thought, too! I didn't want to say anything until an expert spoke up! Quote
Big Al Posted November 11, 2004 Author Report Posted November 11, 2004 For X-mas grease, you only need three ingredients...the Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff and Don Patterson Christmas LPs.... Are the McGriff and Patterson discs available on CD (I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope I hope)? Quote
Soul Stream Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 The McGriff is on CD, but not the Patterson. Although the Presige Holiday CD has 2 of the songs on it! The Patterson's usually a very cheap and easy find on Ebay. Quote

I suspect it's mostly hype. If they are stupid enough to actually pay him that kind of money, they will go broke pronto. I like Howard (in moderate doses) but his ratings record is not such that he would be worth that kind of money. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 Hm... it's 8 o'clock here, but we're on daylight savings time. Perhaps they are too and I missed it? Quote
Soulstation1 Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 i've had it on for 2 hours, since 4:00 my time and they haven't talked about smith once i don't know what to say, i hope we didn't miss it ss1 Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 Do they have a schedule online or did you hear that he would be on somewhere? Quote
Soulstation1 Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 they talked about smith and the cd yesterday on my way to work and said it would be on 7 pm eastern friday i can't seem to find a daily schedule on sirius maybe in 45 minutes, but like i said they haven't talked about it period ss1 Quote

king ubu Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Got me a few new greazy CDs, among them this one: Now what's the personnel here? Anyone has more info than displayed on the CD cover? Why were they so sloppy here? The music certainly deserves better. I can hear at least one trumpet, and barisax, maybe another tenor, too? Anyone knows more about it? thanks, ubu Quote
porcy62 Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 I have this cd. You could find some info in http://www.bluenote.com/detail.asp?SelectionID=8651 Quote
king ubu Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 That's what I have, too, but the only musiciain listed as unknown on the cover is the bass player, now I wonder, has no one noticed there's a horn section of at least trumpet (unknown), tenor (Jay Arnold) and barisax (unknown)? Quote

CD's notes are reticent as BN site! Your last chance is asking Michael or Chuck! Edited November 26, 2004 by porcy62 Quote
