Duke Ellington was the 1st jazz musican to go on US currency. the DC quarter! but if NYC is going to name a street after a jazz muscian, it should be Charlie Parker. Charlie Parkers life is more 'new york' than miles's story. Bird deserves this more

Parker does have a street or at least a few blocks on Avenue B around 7th street named for him... or at least it was for a while and there is a plaque on the wall outside of the last apartment he lived in.
