Are you done with your Christmas shopping? I'm done. . . I just have to get my Mom a birthday present yet, her birthday is on the 23rd, My lover's is on the 26th, but I have hers already. Everything needed to be mailed is in the mail. It feels good to be done!

To be honest, I get a headstart by buying presents all year long.

I would say 75 percent of my shopping was online.

Anyone else done? Any huge Christmas shopping procrastinators here?

Came to a common agreement with family and friends some years back not to buy Xmas presents but buy goats and camels from Oxfam Unwrapped instead. All that buying of things people don't want/need got daft. Buy things for kids and a bottle of wine for people I'm visiting but that's it. The nice thing about Xmas for me is seeing people, nice meals and the seasonal music - and I do like these modern lights. Quite spectacular when they're not doing cheesy Santas.

So no stress at all except remembering to get the Oxfam cards online on Xmas Eve.

I suspect capitalism would collapse if this caught on!

(I'm sure I saw a ghostly figure rattling chains come in the front door!)

actually wanted mom to do that "whole stuffed camel" recipe for x-mas dinner this year, but we couldn't get a camel ... darn!

haven't even started buying presents ... one CD on order for my dad, took amazon several days to ship it even though it was always in stock (and none of that "additional days until shipping" thing) ... hope it'll make it in time ... I never manage to do x-mas stuff online in time ... but then we do way too much online shopping and those having to pack and deliver it are working on gruelsome terms way too often ... I'll do the usual book shopping at my favourite bookshop and some more local shopping.

Yes, done with shopping. Even better everything except one small gift is in the house (that one is in the mail). Tree went up today. Just some wrapping to do, so feeling pretty pleased...

Our family agreed a few years ago that Christmas presents are for young children. Since there no more young children, we've freed Christmas from the material excesses that really kind of dragged down the holidays. The whole present thing just got kind of ridiculous. A few years ago before we all agreed on this new arrangement, I got the same book from three different people. And it was kind of a frivolous book at that.

Now we gather with good food, friends and family, bring a bottle of wine or some tasty treat, and that's much more cozy than fretting over "did you like my gift?"

I have always enjoyed selecting, finding and giving gifts to family and friends. I'm pretty good at it, and our family has fun exchanging.

I've been giving really big gifts to my parents the last few years. . . things they need. Feels good to be able to do so.

Mostly done, pending a lot of deliveries yet to come.

And a special shout-out to Shawn for posting on FB about FoxConnect, the WORST internet-based retailer in the world. $6 for tv-series season DVDs sounds like a great deal but only if they can fulfill it. I gave them over a week and with no shipping notification spent an hour on hold to be told it will 'ship early next week'. That would have been seven days ago. Its now 19 days and counting since my order was placed and God only knows when or if it will ever be shipped.

:excited::excited::excited:

The only saving grace is the fact that the Gould-family gift exchange won't take place until late January when everyone gathers at Mom's new house in Naples, Florida. And, with my wife's birthday coming up in January, I've been ordering for that too, so I can cover up for their incompetence by giving birthday gifts at Christmas. I don't have the hard & fast deadline of December 24 for delivery from this POS company that most people do. I can only imagine how others are feeling about them.
