Justin V Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 With all of the losses jazz has suffered this year, it's good to know that one of the happiest sounds in jazz is still with us. Here's wishing him a happy birthday. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 Yes happy birthday Clark! So happy you are with us, a true warrior! Quote
sgcim Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 Phil Schaap is celebrating CT's 93rd on "Traditions in Swing" right now on WKCR. I was ready to hang it up many years ago and get a 'real job' when I got a gig with CT, and decided if he dug my playing, maybe I should stick wid it. He dug me, and I wound up getting a real job later anyway, but nothing can match being recognized by a real giant on the stand. Happy Birthday, CT, and many more! Quote
Mike Schwartz Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 My sit down interview with CT a number of years ago remains a treasured memory. Quote

Justin V Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Happy Birthday to a true great in the music. Is Mr. Terry now the oldest living major jazz figure? It depends on how you feel about Sir Charles Thompson. Quote

flat5 Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 Anyone see the bandwagon? I want to jump on. Quote
ValerieB Posted August 31, 2014 Report Posted August 31, 2014 I can't wait to see this film. Clark has been a favorite of mine, as a musician and a person, since the '60s. bless him always and forever. he has the most amazing courage, as does his wife, Gwen. Quote
sgcim Posted August 31, 2014 Report Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) I don't know why they have to build the whole thing around his relationship with da little white boy; he's not even a trumpet player. Seems like they're trying to make a tear jerker out of it. CT's life (if they based it on his autobiography) should be more than enough. BTW, Clark's buddy, Phil Woods, has an unpublished autobiography that I'd do anything to read. Here's a pretty long excerpt: http://jazzprofiles.blogspot.com/2014/08/a-chapter-from-phil-woods-my-life-in-e.html?m=1 Edited August 31, 2014 by sgcim Quote
