Very sad news...he played an August event in Woodstock that I didn't hear about in time.

I picked up a flyer at the club but it didn't mention anything about the concert being a benefit. Strange....

The concert was originally scheduled pre-illness, as a regular event (see the link I gave above). I assume it only recently switched to benefit.

I last saw Rudd at the most recent Vision Festival. He was playing with Milford Graves, and he was truly awesome. He has been a part of many landmark albums and has been an influential figure in modern jazz. Sad news. Wish him well.

Anyone attend the concert? I got a notice the day before that didn't describe it as a benefit-- just the launch party for the cd which I've received and really enjoy.

Sorry to hear; I was unable to attend Sunday's event because of visiting family commitments. Fingers crossed that he beats it. What a monster player.

I'm probably going to regret posting this but it takes someone very special to wear a white suit at his age. What a great musician he is.
