marcello Posted August 16, 2015 Report Posted August 16, 2015 Wow! That was the worst interview I've ever seen. Although I love the part when they gave him the plastic food! I miss the "before the comeback' Miles. Quote
Mark Stryker Posted October 9, 2015 Report Posted October 9, 2015 (edited) Includes a 1 min clip, set in studio during recording of "Porgy and Bess." Not sure what to think. Does this make you more or less optimistic? http://blogs.indiewire.com/shadowandact/be-wrong-strong-watch-first-footage-from-don-cheadles-miles-ahead-20151008 Edited October 9, 2015 by Mark Stryker Quote
erwbol Posted October 9, 2015 Report Posted October 9, 2015 The clips didn't make me laugh, but this .... "The story follows Miles Davis (played by Cheadle), after his record label steals his comeback album before he’s ready for it to be heard, as he hunts it down with the help of a music journalist (played by Ewan McGregor)." JSngry Posted October 9, 2015 Report Posted October 9, 2015 In a weird, rewired way, it sounds like Marvin Gaye/David Ritz. Quote
AllenLowe Posted October 9, 2015 Report Posted October 9, 2015 I'm not gonna pay extra for this one. Prediction: it'll be on Netflix by October 15.You heard it here. Quote
Scott Dolan Posted October 9, 2015 Report Posted October 9, 2015 Cheadle may have the voice down well enough, but his stance while playing is completely wrong. Looks nothing like Miles. Quote
colinmce Posted October 9, 2015 Report Posted October 9, 2015 No patience for this one. The movie is bullshit. Quote

BFrank Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 Biopics rarely live up to the hype, IMO. I'd rather watch a doc. Quote
JSngry Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 I think I can look at this as some weird kind of jazz fan fiction and be entertained.Who was that playing Gil? Quote

So instead of hunting down semi-legal recordings by the 'Lost Quintet', people new to collecting Miles Davis will in the future be asking the man behind the counter for a copy of the 'Stolen Album'. Shawn Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 Only if people don't know the difference between fiction and documentary. If that's the case, they deserve whatever they get. Quote
JSngry Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 Who was that playing Hoagy Carmichael? Quote
erwbol Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) Then I prefer a plot where Ewan McGregor and Miles drive a flying car and discover the head of Columbia Records is a Sith Lord. Edited October 10, 2015 by erwbol Quote

JSngry Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 Which one of the Ames Bothers is Gil Evans? Quote
Scott Dolan Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 The way I see it is that someone has taken on the task to honor Miles. As Jazz fans, why should we bitch about that? Good, bad, or indifferent, it's a big budget movie about one of our musical heroes. From a marginalized genre. More, please... Quote

JSngry Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 Thanks. That's a new name to me, but most are, actually. Quote
