The clips didn't make me laugh, but this ....

"The story follows Miles Davis (played by Cheadle), after his record label steals his comeback album before he’s ready for it to be heard, as he hunts it down with the help of a music journalist (played by Ewan McGregor)."

No patience for this one.  The movie is bullshit.

Informed opinion based on actually watching the film?

So the above description of the story made sense to you?

It's a fictional story populated by some historical people.  As Jim said above, "jazz fiction", I'm cool with that.

So instead of hunting down semi-legal recordings by the 'Lost Quintet', people new to collecting Miles Davis will in the future be asking the man behind the counter for a copy of the 'Stolen Album'. :)

The way I see it is that someone has taken on the task to honor Miles.

As Jazz fans, why should we bitch about that?

Good, bad, or indifferent, it's a big budget movie about one of our musical heroes.

From a marginalized genre.

More, please...
