Goofiest sports writing ever?

Alerted to it by a former colleague at the Trib, I'd say that the first two paragraphs of this story about the Notre Dame-Pittsburgh game may be the goofiest writing I've ever seen in a major newspaper:

P.S. Picketts own about 25% but it was more about Tribune Broadcasting....and they just pulled plug on the Cubs option. I know it's the best thing to do financially for 2019+, but still funny.

That is hilarious! Since I'm a Pitt fan I found it all doubly amusing. The only thing I can think is that the story was filed after midnight (12:23AM), by which time the reporter was probably pretty tired and I suspect quite sloshed, if you get my drift.
