Justin V Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 Listening to Roy Haynes playing on some big band tracks on Sonny Rollins and the Big Brass, I can't help but wonder on what other albums he plays with a big band. Given his longtime career as a drummer of choice, it seems that he would've recorded with a big band pretty frequently. Is that a correct assumption? Quote
mikeweil Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 That Getz album has Haynes playing on just one track, and it's a string orchestra. Quote
king ubu Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 a few more: Haynes is on four titles, including "One Mint Julep" - Sonny Payne is on the other six that's a very good one! that one's not quite that good, methinks (her Verve albums before Creed stepped in were mostly very good, some of them darn effin' unbelievable) Quote
