J.A.W.
Gary, you can delete the thread yourself by going to the menu at the lower left hand corner and choose "delete this topic" or whatever it says.
jazzbo
There, I've jettisoned mine away. We can delete any topic we start I think; there is a little "Moderation Options" field down in the left corner. Hans showed me that trick some time ago--thanks Hans! I think this is a stinking lousy gimmick, this deleting the spined sets! And it would work on me if I didn't have these already; I like the metal spined sets! jazzbo
Damn, you're right, I keep forgetting! Are we still battling the Red Menace? Oh now it's Terrorism now. I get so confused.
Gary
sorry for the confusion Lon. I agree about the spines - they look great on the shelf. I was a bit disapointed the email doesnt really hint at when the new box is comming out.
king ubu
Lon, you killed my post! Hope this does not diminish my post count After my now deleted rant, I was trying to post the following (while you were obviously deleting at the same time): Uh, besides: THIS IS GREAT NEWS! Thanks for sharing! I'm really looking forward to this release. I only heard the (probably rather disappointing) studio sessions with Feldman, Bond, Butler etc. once, years ago, but I know and have most of the concerts (the Antibes, the 1964, Berlin). The big surprise for me will be the Tokyo concert with Sam Rivers. Never heard it! And I really like these boxes, too! I got them all, most of them right after they were in the shops. ubu
king ubu
Hey, and just to be sure about the metal spines: the In A Silent Way box had no metal spine in the US, either, yes? ubu

I bought mine fairly soon after it was released and it does not have a metal spine.
jazzbo
Yes, In A Silent Way never did have a metal spine. I figured that may have been because it was "A New Direction in Music." Okay, if that were the case the Quintet box would have only a half-assed spine. So here's the 64 dollar question: will #3 have a metal spine? The real question here is whether Mosaic will release the lp version of this.
brownie
Now you've ruined my day Had not noticed yet my copy of the 'In a Silent Way' box had no metal spine. I want my money back
John B
surprise for me will be the Tokyo concert with Sam Rivers. Never heard it! likewise. I'm really loking forward to hearing this set. I've never heard Seven Steps to Heaven, either, but that's not exciting me as much, for some reason. ghost of miles
I'm not as fond of the metal spines as others, evidently. They do indeed look nice, but they tend towards an unpleasant cracking sensation whenever I'm reading the booklets therein. Glad to hear that the 1963-64 box is rumbling down the tracks, though. Will this be the last one?
Stefan Wood
I should bop you all collectively over the head with the metal spine. As long as the music still is available, that is what is most important. Sheesh!
Peter Johnson
And oh my god, what if they choose a bad photograph for the cover!!!
jazzbo
This is the last one folks! The last one! Til they announce a new limited edition series. .. .

king ubu
This is the last one folks! The last one! Til they announce a new limited edition series. .. . I know this is supposed to be the last one, but where the f%*& are the seventies studio dates???? Calling box #8! Calling box #8! And then, the live stuff was supposed to be the Plugged Nickel and Blackhawk only, no additional material from any of the later dates, yet there will be a box with the complete Live-Evil material... Let's hope they release more from the Fillmore concerts, too! ubu
mikeweil
yet there will be a box with the complete Live-Evil material... The Cellar Door box is the only one I will buy as soon as it hits the shops!
jazzbo
I'm sure they will release more. . . they just won't be in this numbered series.

As long as the music still is available, that is what is most important. Sheesh! I've just checked the board rules & I think its ok if we mention covers & spines as well as the music! I thought we were discussing what was in the Legacy Email , or should we ignore the bits that dont involve the music?
