Well, with the economic downturn, the management has had to lay off a bunch of the reporters. I think Dale, the traffic reporter, is now also supposed to cover Louis Armstrong releases, but you know what a dimwit Dale is. He can barely distinguish between the West Side Highway and Grand Avenue. Carol, the weather girl, is doing the best she can with the tenor saxophone beat, but also doesn't really know what she's doing.

Normally, I would just blame Canada for all this.....but those Modern/Avant-garde guys/girls seem to be planning a hostile takeover. First, they arranged for a Lester Young compilation to be posted in a thread devoted entirely to Lester Young (just how sneaky is that...right in plain site!)....and now it's digital only release by Louis Armstrong of stuff that from the looks of it most everyone that loves Louis Armstrong already has. As in, ....this isn't really new.


@ this rate everyone the takeover will happen in 2175 +/- 3-years.

No, as my youngest sister would say when she was 4....you're "confuseded". The Pres is the one that was hidden in plain site in the Lester Young corner thread. Like I said.....how sneaky is that!?

It's the Louis Armstrong that apparently hasn't been mentioned. It's a vast conspiracy by those Modern/Avant-garde people. There may, or may not be Canadians involved.

There also might be a pop quiz on all this.

I can't refer you to the relevant thread as it was in the defunct politics forum, but I believe a certain Edward Snowden blew the whistle on these covert releases some time ago. Look what happened to him.

This may be the funniest thread I've ever read on this forum. Since I can't top any of these posts let me ask a serious question: Are there other Verve complete sessions avaialbe on iTunes? And was this ever released on cd?

Okay, since we're being serious - the A Day With Satchmo session appears to be previously unissued, and only available as an iTunes download. Check out Ricky Riccardi's blog entry about it. I'm about to download it myself.

Edit - I should have said that this session is mostly previously unissued. A few of the master takes appeared on Ella and Louis Again.

I thought that we had agreed not to disclose information about "A Day with Satchmo" on this forum! I hope that some moderator has the sense to hide this thread.

The free market fails again!!! In my former People's Republic of Jazzovia comrades would have been required by law to purchase these titles!!! Obviously there is a conspiracy amongst large corporate entities to keep the proletariat in the dark regarding these fine issues. And now back to my mid-mid-early-evening Stolichnaya.
