Hardbopjazz Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 (edited) This could not be the original cover for Jimmy Smith at Club " Baby Grand", vol.1. Must have been one of the 70's or 80's reissues. Any other bad re-issue covers that come to mine? Edited February 9, 2004 by Hardbopjazz Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted February 9, 2004 Author Report Posted February 9, 2004 Is this the original cover for the three sounds record? I have a copy of this and it is different. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted February 9, 2004 Author Report Posted February 9, 2004 (edited) Here's the worst one I've seen so far. Somethin' Else Edited February 9, 2004 by Hardbopjazz Quote
Dan Gould Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Is this the original cover for the three sounds record? I have a copy of this and it is different. Yes, to my knowledge, that's the original cover. Quote
Brandon Burke Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 This whole series is ridiculous. The Mingus above and Ornette Coleman Ornette! are--in their original form--two of my all-time favorites. Wa'happen......? Quote
JSngry Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Here's the worst one I've seen so far. Somethin' Else That one I kinda liked, actually. Now, INVENTIONS AND DIMENSIONS as SUCCOTASH, that was kinda wierd. Quote
Free For All Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I saw "Hardbop" and thought "could it be?" until I realized he was talking about an ORGAN recording and then I knew it definitely wasn't our old friend. Welcome to the board, Hardbopjazz! Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted February 10, 2004 Author Report Posted February 10, 2004 Welcome to the board, Hardbopjazz! Thanks. Quote
Peter Johnson Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 There's a funny reissue cover of Soul Station--has anyone seen that one? Quote

Hardbopjazz Posted February 10, 2004 Author Report Posted February 10, 2004 I remember someone selling Grant Green's "Goin' West" on eBay. It had such a horrible cover of an acoustic guitar. Man, this is a real good reason why Blue Note went under. The quality went way down. I wish I could find that picture to post. The eBay auctions was more then 2 years ago, so no way to find it there. jazzbo Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I've actually grown to like this one. . . . Quote
JSngry Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 That's the original cover, btw. Quote

Hardbopjazz Posted February 10, 2004 Author Report Posted February 10, 2004 (edited) I've actually grown to like this one. . . . No, this isn't the cover I am talking about. This was the original cover from the 1969 release. Later they had a picture of a real guitar on it. It was done in a country western style. Real cheesy. I going to spend the rest of today searching the web for a picture of it. It's going to be a real productive day at work today. Edited February 10, 2004 by Hardbopjazz Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted February 10, 2004 Author Report Posted February 10, 2004 The goin' west cover was around the time this Silver records was reissued. Quote
mikeweil Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 Now, INVENTIONS AND DIMENSIONS as SUCCOTASH, that was kinda wierd. That was the first that came to my mind! Quote
mikeweil Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 They want 45 EUROS for that LP on a German used LP site! Sorry, couldn't find a larger pic of that meager meal. Quote
