Homemade foods and cold drinks will be sold by the True Rock Ministries congregation to help fund their community center. Quote
John Litweiler Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Wish I could be there. How rare to have a public place in Chicago named after a fine artist. Yet somehow I remember in the 1970s how city pressure forced Fred to close his no alcohol-no food music venue The Birdhouse, which he'd opened in a white neighborhood. Quote
uli Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 It's great to have a Fred Anderson Park! Here a post by Neil Tesser giving a bit of history on it http://www.chicagomusic.org/blog/fred-anderson-park-dedication-ari-brown-september-21#.UjtPvdK-pgp Quote

Steve Reynolds Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 Members should know Uli was a trusted bartender at the Velvet Lounge for a number of years and he is a great music booster. Thanks for your service sir. Plus the second time I was able to go to the Velvet Lounge back around 1999 or so, I went there with Uli and it was that night that I heard Fred Anderson play live Thanks Uli - you must be very happy that one of our heroes has a park named for him.
