jazztrain Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Will be in Paris from middle to end of next week. Any recommendations on music (live or recorded) venues? Is a trip to the Paris Jazz Corner worthwhile, and, if so, is it only open twice a week as their website implies? Any suggestions (music or otherwise, such as food) are welcome. We'll be staying in the Marai district. Thanks! Quote
brownie Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 You can check for Paris jazz venues at this site http://www.parisjazzclub.net/ As for Paris Jazz Corner, their rue de Nancy shop is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays (from 11 to 19) but their main shop is in the Latin Quarter at 5/7 Rue de Navarre (phone 0143367892). That one is open daily from Tuesdays to Saturday from 12 to 20). It's opposite the picturesque Arenes de Lutece square. Quote
Ed S Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 (edited) Not sure how this recommendation holds up for board members who live in Paris, but when I was in Paris a few years ago, I stopped in at Le Caveau de la Huchette and had a blast. The club is in the basement of a centuries old building on Huchette.. I saw a pretty swinging quartet featuring a sax. You could sit and listen, have a beer or you could actually dance. Pretty cool place, IMO http://www.caveaudelahuchette.fr/ Edited September 17, 2013 by Ed Swinnich Quote
