mjzee Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 I've just learned that this reissue of Afro Blue Impressions remastered the tapes used on the Live Trane box, and some say the sound of these tracks is dramatically improved. Can anyone confirm that? Quote
Scott Dolan Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 Hmmm, that would be interesting. The mix down to mono really made an improvement. I'm interested in this as well. Quote
felser Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 the music on that set is especially spectacular even by the high standards of live Trane recordings. The repertoire is about perfect. I would spring for a meaningful sonic upgrade. Quote
Scott Dolan Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 Yeah, if it were a sonic jump in the vein of the first gen A Love Supreme CD to the Deluxe Edition, I'd be in. Quote
soulpope Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 Would be interested too .... have the vinyl and the Europen Concerts Box, but this double CD is available for little money - nevertheless being curious whether this 2013 release is not in the meatime repressed as CD-R (Concord !!) .... Quote
felser Posted August 25, 2017 Report Posted August 25, 2017 Got to A-B the original from the box and the 2013, and I didn't hear any meaningful difference through headphones. I have old ears and cheap equipment, but still, if it was that different, I would have noticed it. Something like the Beatles remasters stunned me. Quote
