king ubu Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 I'll definitely try and be there at Rote Fabrik! If you feel like having a chat before or after the concert, I'd sure be in! They haven't yet put the October concerts on their site, so I was not aware - great news! Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted September 11, 2013 Author Report Posted September 11, 2013 That'd be great! Yeah, let's catch up after the show. I think before will be tricky - our travel looks like we'll have to go straight to soundcheck...but always good to hang after Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted September 15, 2013 Author Report Posted September 15, 2013 p.s. a few people have kindly pointed out that I've had some website troubles...please find the 'new improved' version here: www.alexanderhawkinsmusic.com...if anyone were able to link/share, I'd of course really appreciate it! A Lark Ascending Posted September 15, 2013 Report Posted September 15, 2013 London bus scenario. No sign of you up this way for years and then you're in Sheffield twice before Xmas. Looking forward to the Moholo Qt. Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted September 16, 2013 Author Report Posted September 16, 2013 Your Mulatu Astake gig got a nice plug form Richard Williams on his Blue Moment blog. Ah yes - I just saw that! I really like Richard Williams' writing...very much enjoyed his 'Kind of Blue' book... London bus scenario. No sign of you up this way for years and then you're in Sheffield twice before Xmas. Looking forward to the Moholo Qt. I know...I've been a really infrequent visitor to Sheffield, Nottingham, etc...I think Leeds and Derby are really as close as I've been recently...so very much look to righting things. It'll be great to catch up at the Moholo show! Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 You have a treat ahead of you with the décor of the Millennium Hall Polish Centre in Sheffield! Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Really enjoying: I've always liked solo jazz piano discs. But I have a special liking for those that don't just play standards or blues - favourites include Jarrett's 'Facing You', Westbrook's 'Piano', Bley's 'Open, To Love', the rare Stan Tracey solo recordings, Keith Tippett's many recordings, Schweizer etc. This one fits beautifully in that tradition. Highly recommended. (Apologies if that reads a bit fawning but I've enjoyed the record that much). Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted October 4, 2013 Author Report Posted October 4, 2013 Thank you so much Bev - I really appreciate it! Quote
