A Lark Ascending Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) A new edition of 'Bitches Brew' has just been announced: "Bitches Brew: The Mono Radio Luxembourg Edition" Carefully remastered so the music drifts in and out of audibility with other radio stations seeping in. Lots of crackle and distortion. And Kid Jensen's DJ-ing interspersed between tracks. There might even be adverts. Just like some of us heard it first time. [The special gift presentation pack packaging includes a replica late-60s transistor radio that can be connected directly to your amplifier or by streaming from your computer] Edited November 10, 2013 by A Lark Ascending Quote
erwbol Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) First customer review on amazon.de. Glad he went through the set so carefully before he posted. The Hancock box was also made in Poland, but I have no complaints. The inner cube does not separate itself too easily from the outer cube. Edited November 10, 2013 by erwbol Quote
erwbol Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 There is a five star review of the mono box up on Allmusic. Quote
Steve Gray Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 Today, release day in the UK, amazon.co.uk says 'available in 1-2 months' Quote
erwbol Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 Amazon.de has the box in stock and at a better price, €39.99 to £45.99. Quote
jazzbo Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 I canceled my amazon.co.uk order and placed an order with a US marketplace seller who indicates it is in stock and . . . cheaper than my preorder price. Probably will get it quicker. Quote

king ubu Posted November 12, 2013 Report Posted November 12, 2013 Someone rather do proper and widely available reissues of "Agartha" and "Pangaea", finally, please! Oh, just in case, I'm not talking of Proper Rekkids, dig? Quote

Agharta Pangaea These should sound terrific. they do.... i'm very curious about this mono set. i'm about to pull the trigger on it for +/- $50.-, which one would think would be a no-brainer, but like a lot of people i have numerous issues of each already except for 'jazz track' and 'miles + monk'... king ubu Posted November 12, 2013 Report Posted November 12, 2013 And probably they'll be gone before I remember to order them (doesn't CD Japan maintain that "saved items" list? I had some in there, but it's all empty again after less than two weeks). Quote

erwbol Posted November 12, 2013 Report Posted November 12, 2013 I do not know if items are removed from CD Japan's saved items list once items go out of print, but it has never happened to me that items just disappeared from that list. Quote
king ubu Posted November 12, 2013 Report Posted November 12, 2013 Well, it was the new Dolphy and Adderley SHMs that went off my list ... surely not OOP yet, or else my jokes about seven minutes of availability will ring even truer from now on Btw, I'm almost through "Miles Ahead" (darn that squeaky Art Taylor drum chair! but at least he had a conductor preventing him from rushing here ) and think these sound fine - but remember I'm not audiophile and am - again right now! - mostly enjoying the great, great music! mjzee Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 Was this ever a legit cover? Saw it on Amazon, never saw it before, says the label is Nippon Columbia (the listing says it's mono even though the graphic says stereo): Amazon Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 How 'bout all the MD singles? On full length CDs though, no 5 minutes CDs please! Quote

Or just a Crooky record seller. The Japanese sleeve!! ( thankx to king ubu ) Edited November 13, 2013 by tomatamot Quote
king ubu Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 What are you trying to say? The US sleeve seems to be the one we all know ... the above seems to be the one of a Japanes 12" reissue (never saw it before), at least according to Losin: http://www.plosin.com/MilesAhead/Disco.aspx?id=Midnight-NC Quote
mjzee Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) When was the cover changed to the one we all know? Which was the original? Why was it changed? Edited November 13, 2013 by mjzee Quote
