GA Russell Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 The Cleveland man who held three girls captive as sex slaves for over ten years has committed suicide. My first thought is that he expected to be killed by fellow prisoners, so decided to do it first. Do you think that is a reasonable guess, or do you think I'm all wrong? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/09/04/cleveland-kidnapper-ariel-castro-found-hanging-in-cell/ Quote

Mike Schwartz Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 The final act of a twisted coward, knowing that his fate was to be held captive , albeit more humanely than the little girls he kidnapped, raped, and tortured. Quote

Unless that would have changed, my guess is he did not fancy a lifetime of solitary lockup due to the nature of his crime. From the BBC: A spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, JoEllen Smith, said: "He was housed in protective custody which means he was in a cell by himself and rounds are required every 30 minutes at staggered intervals." jazzbo Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 How did this happen? Somehow he was helped as . . . there are precautions for this sort of thing. Well, at least this may shorten the years we may be subjected to this story over and over on Cleveland news. Quote
JSngry Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 So we can all go to Havana now? Quote

patricia Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 And nobody wept. I'm against capitol punishment. His life sentence + 1000 years would have been just punishment for Castro to have spent the rest of his natural life alone with his thoughts. But, he apparently chose to go early and who are we to deny him? Quote
Brownian Motion Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 I'm against capitol punishment. I'm for voting them out of office, even if they scream bloody murder. Quote
Bright Moments Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 I feel for his son. because he was such a great dad? what a role model. . . Quote
sonnymax Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 No, because the son and his mother were also victims of the father's abuse. Because the son has publicly expressed his feelings of outrage and sympathy for the women who were held hostage and raped. Because Chuck is showing compassion rather than merely venting scorn. Quote

Jazzmoose Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 Hopefully this will now fade away, and the victims won't have to relive it for future news vultures. Quote
