Ed S Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 Anyone notice that Mosaic Records is now listing sets on Ebay? Looks like they are slightly above the price at the site with shipping to US only. Interesting Quote
Stefan Wood Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 Just noticed. I don't understand why they would do it, other than to advertise themselves. Still, they are going to take a 10% hit off of each sale in fees. Quote
J.A.W. Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Times are tough (OK, cliché, but still...), that might be why they're doing it. They're obviously trying to move some stock. On their site they're also offering free shipping within the United States and reduced shipping anywhere else on orders over $50 until August 31. Edited August 22, 2013 by J.A.W. Quote
Ed S Posted August 22, 2013 Author Report Posted August 22, 2013 Certainly a sign of the times. My guess is that Stefan is right and it's an attempt to get their current releases into the mix. I have not been able to afford any sets recently, but I remain a big fan of the label and concept. Perhaps I'll take advantage of the free shipping sale. Quote

Stefan Wood Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 My point is for a company to do business on eBay, they have to know that they are taking a 10% hit on anything they sell (fees from eBay & PayPal), so it has to be advertising. Quote

Maybe they just tested the water and it worked? And maybe the sale justifies the 'hit'? there is no upfront discount to the customer so customer price-perception is not affected. Probably they just figured that if people are looking for their stuff on ebay anyway why not join in. Quote
Ed S Posted August 27, 2013 Author Report Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) I'm weak. Placed an order - MJQ, Jamal, Goodman. I hate myself Edited August 27, 2013 by Ed Swinnich Quote
