Chuck Nessa Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 (edited) The catalog is in a sort of disarray at the moment. Titles I look for are cdrs on Amazon and expensive otherwise. The Camjazz site offers a few titles I want for 8.76 euro. Does anyone know if these are real cds or the same as Amazon. Edit to say back in Sept 2009 I ordered a bunch of Black Saints from Cadence and one of them (Muhal's Rejoicing With the Light) was a cdr. Cadence said they did not know of this. king ubu Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 For some single discs I recently bought I went via amazon.it or jazzmessengers.com and they all look like the real thing to me (I stocked up all the Muhals not in the box and not yet in my possession, four or five of them from those two sites) ... never ordered straight from CAMjazz, I think. xybert Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Unhelpfully i don't know whether individual BS/SN CDs purchased directly from CAM jazz would be cdrs or not... just to throw my two cents in, i'm very hesitant to buy any 'new and sealed' CD from any source if it is also showing on Amazon.com as being available as a cdr on demand. It's the kiss of death for an album for me in terms of me buying it as a CD online, just can't be bothered taking the risk. Have had a couple of albums turn up as cdrs when there was no indication in the seller info. Would rather just seek out a second hand copy in decent condition... come to think of it, wouldn't it suck to get a second hand cdr? Quote
colinmce Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I don't know for sure either, but my hunch in that they are the real deal. Some titles are not available, which I don't think would be the case if they were on-demand. I also once read a comment from Bonandrini where he said it was a misnomer that the CD catalogue as a whole was ever out of print, just poorly circulated. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Yeah, but that said the Trio Hurricane CD on BS still eludes me in its physical form... my understanding is that some of the weirder ones weren't around for very long and not in great numbers to begin with. Quote

'in stock' at amazon.co.uk... If it turns out it's a Black Saint CD-r returning the item should be possible. A while ago I ordered the Monk Black Lion 24-bit remasters from amazon.de and volume 1 turned out to be a CD-r. Volumes 2 & 3 were still shrink wrapped so I returned all three titles. (I told them I ordered real CDs.) I also think I will buy these second hand now. Edited August 13, 2013 by erwbol Quote
