J.A.W. Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Jeez. Read the threads you want to read, ignore the rest. I like Aloc's posts. That would be easy if he didn't swamp the board almost daily with his threads; there are days when they totally dominate the "Recent Topics" column at the right, they can't be avoided. It's the same when you hit the "view new content" button. A little less would be very welcome as far as I'm concerned. Edited August 7, 2013 by J.A.W.
Soulstation1 Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) I hope Aloc posts more........ Use the ignore function if he bothers you Edited August 7, 2013 by Soulstation1
Chuck Nessa Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 "View New Content" works great for me - easy to see things to ignore. I can see that many/most of Aloc's posts might be of no use to folks outside the US but much of it is interesting "Americana".
king ubu Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 I agree with mjzee and Chuck as well. Me too - but I'd still encourage to look for older musician threads and revive those instead of opening new ones. The cover threads don't really bother me, nor do aloc's - sometimes I look at them, oftentimes I don't.

I'm here for the music, not for "Americana" or other mainly non-musical stuff; there are other boards for that. I know, this has been discussed many times before and Jim sees it differently, but I think it's still worth discussing. Just my 2 cents Edited August 7, 2013 by J.A.W.

AllenLowe Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 I'm a thread anarchist - and anyrhing Jerry posts is fine with me. He's a great guy.
mjzee Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 Hey, Jim, it looks like you live near Ruth Buzzi. Twitter
AllenLowe Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 if ALOC is reading this, please ignore some of the hurtful comments herein and keep doing what you are doing.
Blue Train Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Just think of all the missed opportunities of posting, or starting threads about the latest remastering/engineer fetish.... Edited August 7, 2013 by Blue Train
Jim Alfredson Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 Chris is a great person but he seems to be a bit melodramatic on these forums. Thanks for the heads-up regarding the documentary.

Soulstation1 Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 You two can discuss 1970s fashion....
JSngry Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 It's too hot to wear clothes, 70s or otherwise. Everybody in Texas is naked right now. If you see anything else, it's fake, like the moon landing and all that other stuff like that.
Soulstation1 Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 I don't want to see Ruth Buzzi nekkid
JSngry Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 Nor do I...thank god for AC, we can all stay naked inside.
BruceH Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 Chris, whatever his disagreements with this board, is one of the finest people I've ever known - generous to a fault and a fount of fascinating info. As Larry Cohn (formerly of Sony Legacy, he's the guy who did the Robert Johnson box) told me a few years ago, Chris was one of the tryly honest and good guys in the music/record business and one of the few who did NOT steal from artists, and one of the few who put the interests of musicians before himself. Not to mention his many and major accomplishments as a producer, radio personality, organizer of various sessions through the years, writer, friend to some of the most important personalities in American popular music and jazz, and witness to some of the most important cultural events and movements of our time. As a group who pride ourselves on our historical acumen, it's important to remember and note all of this. Just wish he would post more often.
Brad Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 I like Aloc's posts. He posts some interesting stuff. If you don't want to read them, skip 'em. Why did Chris quit?
paul secor Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 I have no problem with people posting whatever topics they post. (I've certainly posted some things that others probably considered nonsense.) One person's junk is another person's treasure - a cliche, I know - and vice versa.
Scott Dolan Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 I like Aloc's posts. He posts some interesting stuff. If you don't want to read them, skip 'em. Why did Chris quit? The last time he was here I guess he kind of went off on the owner of Jazz Corner in the thread about the forums closing over there. They had had a huge falling out years ago and I guess Chris still hasn't been able to let it go. Haven't seen him around since then, so he probably said "fuck it" at that point. Does anyone know if he is on Facebook?
