PHILLYQ Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Somebody at Hoffman had one for sale. Quote
felser Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 all of the material and lots more is on the Mosaic Select. Quote
jlhoots Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Can't tell who's still looking, who's serious, etc., but I have a copy of the Charly version that I'll sell for the price(s) mentioned.Personal or cashier's check only. No PayPal. Quote
relyles Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 As said already, all the material is included in the Mosaic Select with additional material and remastered sound for less than the OP stated he is willing to pay. Seems to be the best option to me. Quote
AllenLowe Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 ok, $5 with free shipping. But first I have to do an Indiegogo fundraiser. Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Even OOP, it's defininitely worth tracking down - even at twice the original Mosaic price (probably the going rate). The bonus material is every bit as good, and substantial inclusion. The live "Music Inc" quartet album "Impact" on enja (and especially it's recent CD reissue with two long bonus tracks, for a total of 25 minutes of extra material) is also just as important -- especially since it includes a version of "Brilliant Circles" - a tune otherwise only available on the Stanley Cowell album of the same name (with Woody Shaw). Never dreamed I'd get to hear a version of that tune with Charles Tolliver. (Not to be confused with the Strata East big band album "Impact" -- the one on enja is completely different.) When you include the quartet's "Grand Max" from around that same time -- it's really amazing that there's over 5 hours (5!) of liver material by the various incarnations of the Music Inc quartet -- all from the early 70's -- floating around. Stefan Wood Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Geez, $100+ on Amazon for the Mosaic?!? Quote
BFrank Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 Mosaic Selects aren't often "must-haves" for me. But the Tolliver set WAS one of those. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) Set seems like it's NOT OOP http://www.mosaicrecords.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MS-037 Edited August 3, 2013 by Soulstation1 Quote
Swinging Swede Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 I suppose they are referring to MS-020 (quartet), not MS-037 (big band). Quote

Soulstation1 Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) I suppose they are referring to MS-020 (quartet), not MS-037 (big band). S Swede(only) Wonder why MS-20 is NOT listed on Mosaic's OOP list on their website? Edited August 3, 2013 by Soulstation1 Quote
Swinging Swede Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 I guess that, with reduced personnel, there has been no one updating it consistently. I noticed that also the Stitt, the Liebman/Beirach Select and the Ellington Newport 1958 Single are missing from the OOP list. Quote
J.A.W. Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) Mosaic's Scott Wenzel just told me the earlier Tolliver Select (MS-020) is indeed OOP; the OOP list on their site will be edited. Edited August 3, 2013 by J.A.W. Quote
ElginThompson Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 Mosaic Selects aren't often "must-haves" for me. But the Tolliver set WAS one of those. Agree 100%. Was fortunate to pick off one of the last few before it went OOP (same day actually). Amazon has it at a reasonable price. Quote
