Yeah this is a jazz board, but I have a question. I have this Beatles session on CD and album. One thing I noticed, on the CD cover, Leo Gorcey isn't there. If you have the album, he is in the top row on the right. The CD is isn't there. Anyone know why?

A $400 fee? I wonder if that's accurate. Even for 1968, that comes off as insignificant- almost petty. Why wouldn't they have just paid it?

Not on mine either. My vinyl dates from 1970 at the latest - actually I think a year or so earlier.

I (or one of my brothers) bought my copy within weeks of its release.

I've read that there are non-EMI bootlegs that include Gorcey (and perhaps Gandhi?). There are images floating around from the original photo shoot, which could have been used on bootlegs. Here's an interesting one, where you can clearly see a few of the faces hidden or partially hidden when the Beatles were positioned for their final pose:

Another piece of trivia related to this cover is that the partial figure just to the right of the Vargas girl in the top row (just to the left of where Gorcey was positioned) is claimed by some to be JFK.

I still have the French Odeon LP from 1967 purchased when the album came out.

I didn't know that The Beatles were interested in Aleister Crowley. Do you think that was John's suggestion?

For those being able to read German, there is an excellent book on the cover by Walter Grasskamp - there should be an answer to the question posted above somewhere in the book, but currently I don't have the time to take a look.
