robertoart Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 the point is that, *surprise*, jimmy could be one too - and maybe it cost him, and us, a box set. yawn. next? Oh, is that the point. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Something a bit more positive. A Smith/Blakey reunion. http://youtu.be/bI3tONq9_J8 Quote
makpjazz57 Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Here a kinda more postive story: My Mom's boyfriend was the pianist in what was called, I think, The Quiet Bar in the Charles Hotel/Cambridge, MA, right downstairs from The Regattabar. For those of you not in the know, the "R-bar" is one of the two major jazz clubs in the Boston area. So, Paul is playing Over The Rainbow and next thing ya know, Jimmy Smith is standing next to the piano saying to Paul, "move, over; I'm going to show you some hipper changes," and sure enough, he did and was very friendly/personable. Rare, I guess after hearing all of the above. Quote
robertoart Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 I thought Jimmy's response to Prismac was very positive actually. Must just be me who thought that way Quote
