medjuck Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Do blogs count as "in print"? Didn't know where else to post this. Anyway, I highly recommend this blog:http://thebluemoment.com/Richard Williams is one of my favorite writers on music. (He also writes about sports but I don't read that.) Looks like he's retired from newspapers but has taken to the web. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) Excellent writer - I remember reading his stuff in the rock press in the early 70s (and he presented a TV album-rock show called Disco 2 which eventually became The Old Grey Whistle Test). He frequently annoyed me because he regularly attacked the prog-rock I liked. I especially remember an article he wrote comparing prog-rock with Stan Kenton - I hadn't a clue who Kenton was but got the jist of his barbs. Many, many years later I wrote a review of this collection: He was gracious enough to send me a post card of thanks (and admit to being the writer of the prog/Kenton article). I started 'The Blue Moment' a few years back and got distracted from it. Must give it another go. Thanks for the link. Always good to have some thoughtful places to visit. AllenLowe Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) RIchard Williams is also one of my favorite music writers - and Blue Moment is a book, which I have, and recommend (even if I am a little tired of Kind of Blue). Edited July 8, 2013 by AllenLowe Quote
Head Man Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Didn't he write a very interesting article on the life and disappearence of Dupree Bolton? I always enjoyed his article/reviews for the UK music press in the 70s. Quote
