BruceH Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Of the list, I've only had In'n'Out. Good, but not great. Quote
crisp Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Coincidentally I passed a branch of Five Guys in Covent Garden last night. Didn't know we had it over here. There was a queue out the door. Is it really that good? Quote
jazzbo Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 I think they're pretty good. As I noted above, I always order the "little" hamburger or cheeseburger, the regular is two patties and I don't like that much meat on a burger. They always cook their meat well, and have tasty buns and toppings. And peanuts in the shell to eat while waiting! Quote
TedR Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 If you're hungry Five Guys is a good value. You can add so many toppings to your burger that the excess can be a nice side salad. And my wife and I have trouble finishing the huge bag of fries. After those rare times we eat there I do take a low dose aspirin when I get home. :-) Quote

Is it really that good? With all this marketing, the queues (lines?) will lengthen: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2013/jul/09/perfect-burger-review-nationwide Quote
Dan Gould Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Maybe Lindburgers isn't big enough to get consideration but I have to say they're superior to Five Guys and about the same price and if you aren't doing take out its table service instead of paper wrapping and trays. Anyone else a fan? http://lindburgers.com/index.html Quote
.:.impossible Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 One of the owners of the new Five Guys in Covent Garden is the brother in law of a good friend of mine! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 Damn you Mickey Ds Cold fries and cheese added to my burger... I can't stand their cheese and their Coke-Cola has a funny taste to it Quote
jazzbo Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) Got Five Guys tonight for Mom and Dad and me. Mine had lettuce, grilled onions, cheese and jalapenos. YUM. Edited July 17, 2013 by jazzbo Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 Is it a rule that all ladies enjoying Mickey Ds weigh 250lbs+........ Quote
.:.impossible Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 I had Cook Out today. Always very good. Never great. Quote
Indestructible! Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 I've had burgers at 7 of the 10 "chains" mentioned in this article (I'm somewhat saddened by this). Shake Shack, although good, should be nowhere near the top of this list. If one were to look at the ratio of price-to-deliciousness, I think In-N-Out probably takes the title. I love 5 Guys, but the price is a bit steep (great fries, though!). Forget about Umami and their price... hell, they shouldn't even be on this list as they are more a "restaurant" rather than a "chain." Is it fortuitous or sad that I live within 20 miles of 5 of the top 10 chains on this list? My arteries can't decide... Quote
Stefan Wood Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 5 Guys is a local chain exploding to national (and, reading this topic, now international). They were very good when they started, but I found the ones nearest me are too greasy, and I got tired of stumbling all over the discarded peanut shells on the floor. I prefer Elevation Burger in Falls Church. Quote
