GA Russell Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Here's an interesting list. We have 5 Guys here, and I think their cheeseburger is great. http://www.thedailymeal.com/america-s-top-10-chain-burgers-slideshow Quote
BERIGAN Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Funny, I have only eaten at 5 guys once, so guess I need to try it again, but thought they were pricey for what seemed to me a bigger, less tasty Steak n Shake Quote
Guy Berger Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 I thought shake shack was pretty average, though I suppose compared to McDonald's it's a delicacy. Quote
Dan Gould Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 I like Five Guys more than my wife does, as she prefers a custom-cooked burger to one that is cooked so thoroughly. (I do too, but I think its tasty enough to let it slide). I do like the fact that if you're buying for a group you can order fries for about half as many people and have plenty for everyone. Quote

Probably won't repeat the experience. In 'n Out on the other hand...... Quote
Tom 1960 Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 5 Guys. I was there only once, but it was pretty darn good. Quote
JSngry Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 5 Guys = too much cheese for the meat = stunt burger. Not impressed. Quote
etherbored Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 too much cheese for the meat? did you just say that? blasphemy. Quote
king ubu Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Don't give a flying shit ... but then y'all expected that, didn't you? Quote
Blue Train Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 My top 5 would be: Shake Stack In-N-Out Umami Burger Five Guys Whatburger P.S. For those that don't know....all five of them have a secret menu. Quote
jlhoots Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Don't give a flying shit ... but then y'all expected that, didn't you? That makes 2 of us. Quote
Quincy Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) P.S. For those that don't know....all five of them have a secret menu. You mean a gimmick menu. It's not a secret when it's mentioned in every blasted article about these chains. If you want to have some fun at In & Out ask for food wrappers & soda cups without the biblical messages. Jazzmoose Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 I've only had In & Out from the list; just another fast food burger in my opinion. Crap is crap, no matter how 'cool' it may have been deemed... Quote
Aggie87 Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) Whataburger is crap. And I say that in their hometown, where there's one on practically every street corner. It's too expensive and slow, and not particularly tasty at all. Give me 5 Guys any day of the week over Whataburger. Edited July 8, 2013 by Aggie87 Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 A lady I know said she did 5 guys for lunch..... Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 I have no idea why anyone likes the burgers at Steak & Shake. The only reason we ever stop there is so Ann can have a malt. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 I like Wendy's over Micky Ds, Burger Kang, Carl's Jr, Jack in the box or whataburger... Quote
JSngry Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 I've had Whataburgers that were crap, & I've had Whataburgers that are sublime. It all depends on how fresh the buns are and whether or not the griller has that feel. But a triple meat (no cheese), done just right is a rare pleasure. Too rare, but like that first (insert inappropriate analogy here), it keeps you coming back even though you know the odds are not in your favor, short-term or long. Been wanting to try Mooya before they get too/all chain-y, heard good things and there's one just around the corner. Anybody done Mooyah yet? Quote
crisp Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 I ate at Shake Shack when I was in NY last year. A very long queue for a good, but not amazing burger. There is comething of a craze for burgers in London at the moment with posh burger chains and indies popping up all over the place. Byron is probably the highest rated, but my favourite is still the original Ed's Easy Diner in Soho; a Big Bubba with Atomic Fries and a butterscotch malt is a pre-theatre dinner that cannot be beat. Big Wheel Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 I've only had In & Out from the list; just another fast food burger in my opinion. Crap is crap, no matter how 'cool' it may have been deemed... +1. I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks this (literally every Californian I've met thinks it's God's gift to the state). When you point out that it's maybe two notches above McDonald's, invariably the reply is "well...yeah, it's not the greatest burger I've ever eaten but where else can you get a burger this good for $3?" Even the double-double is only 1/4 pound of meat, though. Umami Burger is supposed to be the real deal (though not cheap). In the Bay we have two local chains that are mediocre/overpriced (Burgermeister and Barney's) and a few smaller up-and-comers that are more promising (Pearl's Deluxe Burgers, Roam Artisan Burgers). jazzbo Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Here in my new home, Five Guys is the best chain option. I order the little one, and I like that they offer grilled onions, grilled mushrooms. . .and jalapenos. I can even sometimes get them to grill the jalapenos. Quote
